Erasmus keeps his eyes trained firmly on the ground in front of him, not daring to make eye contact with anyone but Damen until he can understand the society better.
He stumbles a bit at Damen's words, quickly righting himself as he tries to make sense of the words.
"That is not how it works," he says carefully, feeling foolishly hesitant to argue with someone of his own rank. "The Prince is a Prince by birth no matter the customs of the land. I am a slave in the same way. I am equipped only to be a slave, I am not able to be my own Master. Such a thing is impossible. Do you truly consider yourself your own Master?"
